entered the sport in 2008 and I train on a regular basis for multisport and other kinds of endurance events. I have completed four full Ironman races (AZ-11, LP-14, AZ-17, & AZ-19), but prefer to race two to four half distance (70.3) races a year. Triathlon is my lifestyle and I love the problem-solving aspect of the sport. To give back, I am a Captain for the Arizona 70.3 and 140.6 races, as well as serve as a pacer for local half marathons. I am a proud member of the Tempe Tri Club and look forward to representing our team at races across the country.

I am an “adult-onset athlete”. I was not athletic at all as a kid, but in 2008 I bought my first road bike and I loved riding. Then in 2010 I signed up for a 10k race. For a few years I only participated in duathlons since I didn’t swim. In 2013, at the age of 40, I took adult swim lessons and I fell in love with swimming. As an engineer, I appreciate the science behind swimming and the fact that I will be able to do it for the rest of my life. In 2014 I put the sports together and did my first triathlon. I have completed ~25 sprint and olympic distances and two 70.3 races. I race less now, but I still love to train and maintain my fitness level and I compete in gravel bike races.  I recently retired from a 25 year engineering career and I spend my time volunteering at a local swimming pool, on the board at the Arizona Science Center and for Tempe Tri Club.

I started my triathlon journey in 2025, and from the beginning the team’s support made a huge impact. Training with Tempe Tri Club and attending the group workouts has been super motivating- everyone encourages each other, which pushes me to improve. In March, I completed my first sprint, and now I sign up for races without hesitation. I love the sport and the community. I’m now volunteering with the club and helping out wherever I can-- grateful to give back to a team that’s given me so much.

Triathlon didn’t just challenge me—it changed me. Somewhere between fogged goggles and flat tires, I found focus, resilience, and a reason to wake up at 4:30am on purpose.

I started Tempe Tri Club to build more than a training group—I wanted a crew where effort matters more than ego, where we train hard, lift each other up, and laugh through the chaos. Whether you're racing sprints or just learning to clip in, you belong here.

Triathlon keeps me grounded, hungry, and weirdly obsessed with gear ratios and breakfast burritos.

This isn’t just sport. It’s life—at 140.6% effort.
